About a year ago, we started building CARTs (Cargo Assistance - Rough Terrain) from broken down mining and construction machinery.
I guess it was our first "cottage industry" on another world. It passed the time and allowed us to exercise our mechanical creativity. If we couldn't build hotrods, we at least had this!Almost every CART had a control bar, a simple power panel, a small electric motor, a cargo hold or basket, and three or four wheels (usually mismatched).
Mine (nicknamed Carrie - get it?) had electronics scrounged from a 3D printer used in habitat construction, metal wheels made from an excavator's gears, a cargo basket woven from Kevlar tie-down straps, and a control panel from - I'm not kidding - an exercise treadmill.
She was a thing of beauty.
