Space Art 57: Proof

(From the Space Art 57 project.)

It was a balmy day on SA82-001933, just above the freezing point. Without the greenhouse effect from the smoggy CO2 atmosphere, though, it would be a hundred degrees colder.

Dr. Solkolov was enjoying a day without his heavy arctic gear. With just his helmet, insulated flight suit, and air generator, he felt almost like he was back home in Maine.

SA82-001933 was a rocky, chilly little planet with amazingly hardy, but simple, lichen-like lifeforms. Still, at least a dozen PhD's had been minted from the study of these lichens.

He hopped out of the rover and worked his way slowly among the boulders. He was in a new area, and he wanted to check it on foot.

He spotted an interesting boulder emerging from the yellowish fog. It was so smooth, it almost looked artificial. He snorted. Imagine trying to prove it was crafted by anything other than wind. Ha!

He walked around the back side and froze. He took out his camera, realizing distantly that he would have no problem with his proof after all.
