Space Art 57: Big Dog

Excerpt from "Big Dog Mission Summary."

We really exercised the three P's (Planning, Personnel, and Propellant) to finally land on an interstellar object flashing through the solar system.

Our AI's mathematical wizardry showed that the object had come from the general direction of Sirius, in the constellation of Canis Major. So naturally, we nicknamed it the "Big Dog."

We had to refuel twice to match its blistering speed of 196,000 miles per hour (87.3 kilometers per second).

We were thankful the reactor kept happily cooking its hydrogen propellant, and we caught Big Dog between Mars and Jupiter. We landed as we passed Mars, making a nice photo op.
