Pip and I hitched a ride out to Saturn for a summer project to study the icy rings. The other "gas giants" in the outer part of our solar system also have rings, but Saturn has them all beat!
The rings are loaded with secrets we want to discover. For example, what are they made of? Pieces of comets? Shattered moons?
The parts I have seen are made of billions of small bits of ice and rock, and some are covered with dust. I saw one hunk of ice as big as a house. Our mission scientist says she has seen some as large as mountains!
