Hazzaa Ali Almansoori, the first flight-tested astronaut of the United Arab Emirates, returned safely to Earth today after eight days aboard the International Space Station. He was selected as a UAE astronaut in 2018.
He landed in a Soyuz crew vehicle. These reliable Russian spaceships return by parachute and touchdown on dry land. Just before they land, retrorockets fire to further cushion the impact.
