Space Art 57: Red Dwarf

(From the Space Art 57 project.)

The desert planet - nicknamed "Sandy" by an unimaginative surveyor - was in the red dwarf's habitable zone.

But the star, like all its kind, was small, and the planet nestled close enough to keep one face tidally locked in eternal sunrise.

It did have a thin nitrogen atmosphere that burned up most of the smaller meteors that fell daily.
