Bennu Hazard Map

As a citizen scientist, I helped review the imagery of asteroid Bennu provided by NASA and CosmoQuest. My goal was to help create a hazard map of rocks and boulders that might damage a lander.

Earlier today I got word that NASA released an initial list of four possible sites for sampling the surface.

I (and hundreds of volunteers) helped map all but one of the eight images that went into selecting those four sites.

The four sites are named Nightingale, Kingfisher, Osprey, and Sandpiper. Cool, huh?

If you could pick out a name for a landing site, what would you use?  Mail me at
